One of Britain’s leading economists is at the centre of a police investigation into claims he assaulted a prostitute after the pair smoked crack cocaine together. Professor Douglas McWilliams, a key figure who has advised Boris Johnson on housing policy, allegedly injured Beverley Shearon at her flat in St Albans, Hertfordshire. She claims the married academic was a regular visitor and took drugs with her on New Year’s Eve before he “flipped out” when a neighbour arrived unannounced.

Professor McWilliams, executive chairman of influential City think-tank the Centre for Economic and Business Research, left the home but was later questioned by police. Ms Shearon, 47, says she was left with facial bruising, a black eye and a hand injury. She told the Sun on Sunday: “He turned up at about 4pm and wanted a smoke. I was weak and let him.” The self-confessed call girl claims she then performed a sex act on the Oxford-educated economist - who she called ‘Posh Rob’. But when a neighbour knocked on the door to wish her Happy New Year, Ms Shearon alleges Professor McWilliams attacked her in a rage. She added: “I don’t know why he comes here and why he leads the life he leads considering his job.”

A married police officer has been arrested after allegedly having sex with three prostitutes while on duty.
PC Darren Bromley has quit Greater Manchester Police after being held on suspicion of misconduct in public office after being accused of sleeping with sex workers he first met on patrol.
Mr Bromley, 38, is said to have got to know a number of prostitutes while working in the red light district in Manchester city centre and allegedly slept with them on separate occasions.
His force became involved when he was reportedly seen at a sex worker's home and is now being investigated by Greater Manchester Police's standards unit and has been arrested.

An escort worker plunged to her death from the balcony of a Manchester city centre hotel after one of her clients told her parents about her secret life. Martin Riley, 30, from Blackley, emailed the family of model Laura Pahomova, 23, to tell them she was an escort and needed help, an inquest at Manchester Town Hall heard.

Her shocked parents, who live in Latvia, had believed she was in England to study maths and science at University. But in fact she was working for Manchester-based Mckenzies Escort Agency, and had formed an on-off relationship with Mr Riley through the agency.

Seemingly ashamed of her secret life, she sent a series of texts to her parents, telling them: “I’m worth nothing ... You deserve a better daughter”. Hours later, on 30 September 2012, she plunged from the 18th floor balcony at The Light Boutique Aparthotel in the Northern Quarter and fell 100ft to her death. Suicidal notes and apologies were found scrawled in lipstick on the mirrors and walls of her room.

The inquest heard how Mr Riley disclosed private information to Miss Pahomova’s parents, even though he knew she might kill herself if her parents found out the truth about her life in Manchester.

Fifteen people have been arrested in Beijing in connection with a prostitution ring which used websites to connect young mothers with men who paid to be breastfed by them. The Ministry of Public Security announced that police forces from Beijing and Hebei, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces in China were involved in breaking up the two gangs involved in the ring.

Police began their investigation after The Beijing News reported the existence of websites on which women were offering to breastfeed adults, reported the South China Morning Post. More than 200 people across China allegedly paid for the service, with prices discussed on instant messaging apps and photographs of a selection of mothers provided for customers to choose from.

Potential subscribers to the service were offered membership deals costing 60 yuan ($9) a week, or up to 780 yuan a year, providing them with access to details of willing mothers. As part of the newspapers investigation, a reporter arranged to be breastfed for 1,000 yuan by a 23-year-old mother, who also offered to have sex with him for a further 1,500 yuan. The woman said only those who offered sexual services in addition to breastfeeding were assured regular work. She said one website offered customers a monthly service costing 40,000 yuan for breastfeeding, and 50,000 yuan for breastfeeding plus sex. Some mothers only breastfed their babies once a day or stopped breastfeeding them altogether in order to provide for clients, said the report.

Last year AFP reported that human breast milk had become a luxury for China's rich and is regarded in some regions as having healing properties, with firms offering a human breast milk service for adults and children. "Adult (clients) can drink it directly through breastfeeding, or they can always drink it from a breast pump if they feel embarrassed," said Lin Jun, owner of Xinxinyu, a domestic services company that provided the service.

Wet nurses that serve adults are paid $2,600, nearly four times the monthly average. On social media, Critics denounced the service as showing the moral degradation of China's rich. Sexual arousal by breast feeding is known as "milk fetishism" and is also called "lactophilia".

Chinese police announced that 87,000 people have been arrested this year for their alleged involvement in prostitution and gambling, state news agency Xinhua reported.

A PROSTITUTION-FREE zone has been created in Hull.

In a landmark ruling, prostitutes and kerb-crawlers found in the area around Hessle Road will be arrested and forced to appear in court. Hull City Council has been granted the injunction order under Section 222 of the Local Government Act 1972, banning prostitution in the area surrounding Hessle Road. It is the first time the orders have been used to tackle prostitutes anywhere in the country.

Residents living in the area have complained about people having sex in broad daylight – including in their gardens. The injunction order was granted by Recorder Paul Miller at Hull County Court yesterday and is now in force. It means people caught loitering or soliciting for the purpose of prostitution, or those approaching prostitutes within the zone, will face court action. Those caught having sex, urinating, defecating or exposing themselves will also face action under the orders.

Graham Paddock, the council's neighbourhood nuisance team leader, said the ruling was a great result for the community, which has been blighted by the problems for more than a decade. He said: "The way we have tried to tackle the problem of prostitution up to now has had limited success so hopefully this approach will stamp out the problem. This has been such an ongoing problem and we have needed to think outside the box. I believe this is the first time these powers have been used to deal with prostitution."

Notices publicising the order will begin being displayed in the area this week.

Mr Paddock says he hopes the order will scare off punters from seeking out prostitutes.
